I love being optimistic. And it´s really easy: you only have to focus on the best things happening in your life. Maybe the best thing is that it isn´t raining, but if you feel happy about that, you stay positive for many other things! A friend of mine told me that the trick is not to expect anything. I find it really difficult. But enjoying all the small things that happen to me makes me much happier and allows me to approach anything with a better energy. Some time ago I would have thanked God. Now I thank an undetermined being, energy or I don´t know what, that I usually call “Daddy”. Daddy keeps me alive, holds amazing people, good people around me and gives me health to go on everyday. And work. I thank Daddy so much for working a lot. Some people would think that having a second job in catering is degrading, since you are serving other people, or that it is too hard, or that it isn´t interesting enough, or… negative people will only find the worst part. So I choose to take the best out of it, and think of the friends I make while working there, the cool people I meet, and the amazing places that I have the chance to work at.

Especially that, the spaces where we work are really beautiful and sometimes full of art. In the last week, two shifts have been really special. Not because of the events, nor the buildings, nor the people, but for the works of art that surrounded us. Two of them caught my eye heavily and tricked it, making me enjoy as a baby. The first one was a 3D-moving painting, by Patrick Hughes (I thank the owner for allowing me to film it, respecting his wish to remain uncredited). Hughes´works play with the perspective to the extent of getting you really out of your mind, we set up the bar just in front of it and, since the people in the party couldn´t reach the space where the trick is obvious, they all felt crazy about it. Result: since I can´t have it at home, how cool it was to enjoy it that evening! Click on the videos if you want to enjoy too.

The second one was exhibited at The Photographers Gallery, in London. The author has created it in a way that you have the feeling, for a long while, that the mountain has been growing until it reached the ceiling… and then you realize that mountains aren´t trees. The light in it and B/W effect just add to make it an amazing piece.

So, you see: it´s all about perspective. Just look for the one that makes everything feel great and makes you happy. Life is so much better!

Me encanta ser optimista. Y es muy fácil: sólo tienes que centrarte en lo mejor que sucede en tu vida. Puede que lo mejor sea simplemente que no llueve, pero si eso te pone contento, ¡estarás positivo para muchas otras cosas! Una amiga mía me dijo que el truco está en no esperar nada. Eso sí que me parece difícil. Pero disfrutar las pequeñas cosas que me pasan me hace estar mucho más contento y relacionarme con todo con una energía mucho más interesante. Hace tiempo le habría dado las gracias a Dios. Ahora se las doy a un ser o energía o qué sé yo indeterminado al que normalmente llamo “Papi”. Papi me mantiene vivo, me rodea de gente increíble y buena y me da salud para continuar día a día. Y trabajo. Le doy muchas gracias a Papi por trabajar tanto. Seguro que hay gente que piensa que tener un segundo trabajo en el catering puede ser degradante porque estás sirviendo a otra gente, o que es muy duro, o que no es bastante interesante o… la gente negativa siempre sacará a la luz la peor parte. Por eso yo elijo quedarme con la mejor y pensar en los amigos que hago trabajando allí, la gente tan guay que conozco y los lugares tan increíbles en los que tengo la oportunidad de trabajar.

Especialmente eso, los espacios en los que trabajamos son realmente preciosos y a veces están llenos de arte. Esta última semana, he tenido dos turnos muy especiales. No por los eventos en sí, ni por los edificios, ni por la gente, sino por las obras de arte que nos rodeaban. Dos de ellas captaron mi atención soberanamente y jugaron con mis sentidos, haciéndome disfrutar como un enano. La primera fue un cuadro en 3D y con movimiento, de Patrick Hughes (agradezco al dueño que me permitiera grabarlo y respeto su deseo de no acreditarle). Las obras de Hughes juegan con la perspectiva hasta el punto de volverte medio loco; pusimos la barra justo delante del cuadro y, como la gente no podía llegar al lugar desde donde el truco es evidente, todos se maravillaban. Resultado: como no puedo tener uno en casa, ¡qué guay que pude disfrutarlo esa tarde! Haz click en los vídeos si quieres disfrutarlo tú también.

La segunda pieza estaba expuesta en The Photographers Gallery de Londres. El autor la ha creado de modo que tienes totalmente la sensación, un rato largo, de que la montaña ha ido creciendo hasta llegar al techo… y entonces te das cuenta de que las montañas no funcionan como los árboles. La luz que tiene y el B/N le añaden puntos para hacer de ella una obra espectacular.
