Ah, Wimbledon! The classic grand slam, sometimes fast, sometimes long, but always full of distinction. In both senses. It’s totally different to any other tournament, even the (few) grass ones. And this edition will sure be remembered.

Two top five falling in the first two rounds wouldn’t come as big news, but when those two are the man who won 7 out of the last 10 (only once finalist) and the only one able to beat him (2 titles and 3 finals), that’s a big deal!  – and please, ladies and gents in the sport journalism, show some respect to them both, they have completely earned it inside and outside the courts.

So now there’s only Djoko to revalidate the title… aren’t there too many oponents? This year the grass smells of new names coming up, and I’m really thrilled about it. How far will Stakhovsky and Darcis compete? Will this be Murray’s revenge from last year’s, or will he be unable without hit olympic Team GB? Is this David Ferrer’s year to convince us that he finally grew up? Tsonga’s chance? Wawrinka’s? Berdych’s? I would be happy to see them in the final this year, as much as I regret not being able to enjoy Rafa and Roger longer in this occasion. The winner, in any case, will be tennis.

Ah, Wimbledon! El clásico grand slam, a veces rápido, a veces largo, pero siempre lleno de distinción. En ambos sentidos. Es totalmetne diferente a cualquier otro torneo, incluso a los (pocos) de hierba. Y a buen seguro esta edición la recordaremos.

Que dos del top five caigan en las primeras dos rondas no debería suponer mucha novedad, pero cuando esos dos son el hombre que ha ganado 7 de los últimos 10 (sólo una vez quedó finalista) y el único capaz de ganarle (2 títulos y 3 finales), ahí sí que hay tela! – y por favor, damas y caballeros de la prensa deportiva, muéstrenles respeto a ambos, que se lo han ganado totalmente tanto dentro como fuera de las canchas.

Así que ahora el único que puede revalidar el título es Djoko… ¿no son demasiados rivales? Este año el césped huele a nuevos nombres, y estoy bastante emocionado al respecto. ¿Cuánto más competirán Stakhovsky y Darcis? ¿Será la oportunidad de Murray de vengarse del año pasado, o no podrá sin el equipo olímpico? ¿Es este el año en el que David Ferrer nos logre convencer de que finalmente ha crecido? ¿La oportunidad de Tsonga? ¿De Wawrinka? ¿De Berdych? Me encantaría verles en la final este año, tanto como siento no poder disfrutar más de Rafa y Roger en esta ocasión. El ganador, en cualquier caso, será el tenis.
